Amazon operates separate storefronts for individual countries and geographic regions. Each storefront requires you to register for separate country-specific affiliate accounts. Consequently, a standard Amazon.com Associate ID will not yield referral fees for visitors shopping on international storefronts (e.g. from the UK or EU).
How Geo-Localize Solves This
Spreadr automatically detects a visitor's location and redirects them to their regional Amazon store (e.g., directing UK visitors to amazon.co.uk). By saving your local affiliate IDs in the Spreadr dashboard, the app appends the correct country-specific tracking code before sending the visitor to Amazon.
How the Redirect System Operates
- Geolocation Detection: The system checks the visitor's country location based on their IP address.
- Matching Country Redirect: If the user is from the same country as the original product link (e.g., US visitor, US link), they proceed directly to the listing page.
- International Redirect: If the user is in a different country that has a supported native Amazon store, Spreadr conducts a keyword search for the product on the local store and sends the user to the search results with your regional Associate ID embedded.
- Fallback: If the visitor is in a country without a supported regional store, they are directed to your default fallback store.
Account Plan Requirements
Geo-localize capabilities are available on the Pro plan and higher.
Redirect Performance: Location redirects run on a best-effort basis. While redirection has an accuracy rate above 97%, slight variations can happen based on VPNs or custom connection routes.
