This guide is intended for Shopify merchants who also sell the same products on Amazon.
Depending on how your Amazon products are fulfilled, the order fulfillment process differs.
Fulfilling Shopify Orders for FBM Products
Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM) means you store and ship products yourself rather than using Amazon's fulfillment network.
If a customer places an order for an FBM product on your Shopify store:
- You are responsible for packing the order.
- You must ship the order using your preferred shipping carrier.
- You are responsible for updating tracking information and managing delivery.
Note: Shipr does not automatically fulfill FBM orders.
Fulfilling Shopify Orders for FBA Products
Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) allows Amazon to store, pack, and ship your products from its fulfillment centers.
When a customer purchases an FBA product from your Shopify store, you have two fulfillment options.
Option 1: Ship the Order Yourself
You can manually fulfill the order using your preferred shipping carrier instead of using Amazon FBA.
Option 2: Let Amazon Fulfill the Order
Use your inventory stored in Amazon fulfillment centers to ship Shopify orders directly to your customers.
There are two ways to accomplish this:
1. Shopify's Built-in Fulfillment by Amazon Service
Shopify provides a native Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) integration that automatically fulfills eligible Shopify orders using your Amazon inventory.
Important Notes
- Available only for Amazon sellers in the United States and Canada.
- Configure the Inventory Location in the Shipr dashboard as Amazon Marketplace Web.
- Inventory for FBA products is managed directly by Amazon.
- Shopify inventory updates may occasionally become inaccurate.
- Shipr cannot update inventory managed by Shopify's native Amazon fulfillment service because those updates are overwritten by Amazon.
Recommendation: We generally do not recommend using Shopify's native FBA integration due to inventory synchronization limitations and limited troubleshooting support.
2. Use the Shipr App (Recommended)
